Personal history of the founder.
Castelo David was born in Sao Tome and Principe and had his childhood and adolescence witnessed in Portugal. He is currently a resident of England, for almost a decade. His professional career started, in Portugal, as a software developer. In 2009 he completed a 6-month internship at the IBM Group company, SoftINSA. After completing it, he joined the company’s staff as a software developer and worked at the same company for 3 years, in which he participated in several projects for several companies. In 2012, he decided to emigrate to the United Kingdom, where he worked with several companies developing numerous projects.
How did the idea for this project come about and how many people are involved?
After working for 1 decade as a software developer, ‘Castelo David’, for countless companies, I concluded that my knowledge would be more useful if I could provide my services to as many companies as possible. And so Castle David was founded. Directly and indirectly, 4 people are involved in the project, playing the role of Project Manager, Designer, and Sales.
What makes your company different from others?
The knowledge that Castelo David acquired over the years in the various companies, and projects that he worked on, the network of professionals that he developed around the world, as well as my business and technological vision, believes that it forms a very unique formula and that puts us in a privileged position to develop solutions.
What is the area of operation and to which audience is it intended?
The knowledge that he acquired over the years in the various companies, and projects that I worked on, the network of professionals that he developed around the world, as well as my business and technological vision, believes that it forms a very unique formula and that puts us in a privileged position to develop solutions.
What is the market problem or need that your company wants solve?
In the world we live in, all companies face 2 challenges. The first is to have a digital presence and find ways to offer your product/service digitally. This leads to the second challenge. The technological world changes at an impressive rate and keeping up with this evolution is an even greater challenge than the first. Our company is in the market to help companies in the face of these challenges. As solution developers, tailor-made for more than a decade, we are used to creating solutions today that survive tomorrow.
What are the challenges they face?
Our biggest challenge is to explain to our customers the importance of developing solutions in the right way. Digital products are usually evaluated by their interface and not by their internal structure. Our biggest challenge is to explain to our customers that 2 identical systems at the interface level can be completely different internally, with 1 being prepared for the future and the other not. An example of this scenario, for professionals, is the definition of 1 field in the database as ‘int’ instead of ‘big int’. This small detail can cause a system that has worked for years to stop working completely, without any type of change in the structure.
What are the next steps the company will take?
At the moment, we are working with some customers in Europe, but we very soon want to attack the African market with force, especially the PALOP. We are also working on developing the products that we are going to introduce to the market soon.
What was the strategy implemented to keep your company running with the pandemic covid19?
We didn’t change our strategy much, as we already worked from home before the crisis. With the crisis, we just had to change our strategy of meetings, both internal and with customers, which are now completely online.
What advice or warning do you give other companies to overcome this crisis?
Make use of digital solutions at your disposal. Be creative in the delivery of your product / service. I believe that creatively, even in times of crisis, like the ones we live in, we can continue to deliver our products / services. Take the time to rethink your processes and perhaps ‘adopt’ measures that are beneficial in the long run.
